Coronavirus outbreak SHANGHAI/ TOKYO: The outbreak of coronavirus ( COVID- 19) has left a major impact not only on the economy of China but also of Japan and Singapore, which are staring at recession, reported Reuters. Singapore has downgraded its gross domestic product ( GDP) forecast for 2020 to around 0.5 per cent, the midpoint of a new estimated range of (-) 0.5 per cent to 1.5 per cent on Monday, citing impact of the ongoing crisis.

The ruling Communist Party of China ( CPC) considers the two sessions as significant political events to adopt its national agenda, including the annual budgets.

Together, the NPC and the CPPCC have over 5,000 delegates.

China is discouraging large gatherings to prevent the spread of the virus.
