Au00a0real estate agent survived a bid on his life when four assailants yesterday cornered him in his office, put a revolver to his head and pulled the trigger, only to find the firearm had jammed.

Dnyaneshwar Vitthal alias Mauli Javalkar, a resident of Ambegaon Budruk, was allegedly attacked over previous enmity by Pinya Kale of Warje, Prashant Deshmukh of Karve Nagar, Balli Ankush Thakur of Dhayari and Vilas of Shastri Nagar.

The Haveli police have booked the accused under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code.

"Javalkar was an accused in the Anil Marne murder case registered at the Wanawadi police station in June 2005, but was acquitted in 2009. This enmity led to the attack on Javalkar by the assailants," said Police Inspector A D Patil. "Javalkar reached his office around 9 am. An hour later, the four assailants came on a motorcycle and made a forced entry into the office. One of the suspects put the revolver to Javalkar's head and pulled the trigger, but the revolver got locked."

Javalkar and some other employees in his office retaliated and threw chairs at the suspects. The two groups had a scuffle after which the four attackers fled, said Patil.
