Prawns in oyster sauce meet masaledaar murg at The Yellow Mirchi, and we don't mind the cross-border jugalbandi at all!

A business lunch can never be good with the same old biryani, and conflicting tastes more often than not lead to a poor choice of restaurant. The Yellow Chilli is here to solve the problem once and for all, if half your colleagues dig Indian, and the other half, Chinese. We took a trip of the Hindi-Chini hotspot, and came back pleased.

The Yellow Mirchi a trip of the Hindi-Chini hotspot

Food: We started with the Vegetarian Mix Grill and Frontier Mix Grill platters (Rs 525 for two persons and Rs 775 for four persons), and liked both the kebab assortments. For the main course, we opted for the Murg Makhni (Rs 345) and signature Lalla Mausa Dal (Rs 320), both pleasing and filling. Diehard non-vegetarians have the option of Masala Kandhari Jheenga (Rs 775), if seafood's their thing. Now, for the Chinese fare. Starters like Baby Corn Fritters (Rs 195) and Vegetable Tempura (Rs 275) sound good, though we only had enough space for the Hoi Sin Chicken (Rs 355) with Schezwan Hakka noodles (Rs 325), which again turned out to be good choices. If you're feeling adventurous, the Chicken Taro Nest (Rs 350) or Prawns in Chilli Oyster Sauce (775) sound good. In desserts, the Silky Chocolate Chip Mousse (Rs 125), Fruit Triffle (Rs 125) made it to our table, with the latter winning our hearts.

Drinks: Don't search for regular cocktails; there are none. However, the sister bar, Opium, stocks all the liquor you'd want, so don't despair.u00a0 Teetotalers can sip on exotic mocktails like Sparkling Sunrise, Berry Sweetheart, Mango Juliet and Cinderella, all served at Rs 170 each. Yes, they live upto their fancy names.

Ambience: The interior of this huge 178-seater hall is fairly cosy, with comfortable wooden furniture and traditional paintings adorning the walls. There is a lot of greenery, that adds to the tranquility. The Bollywood may be a contrast, but it helps kee up the mood. For lovers of live music, there are ghazal performances every evening from 8.30 pm onwards. All in all, a decent North-West dine-in option, but the management needs to pull up its socks when it comes to prompt service.
