RJ Prithvi asks his listeners if it's fair to favour cricket over other sports and professions, and here's what they have to say

Our newest cricket star Manish Pandey, who played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL2, got away withu00a0 attendance shortage because he plays first class cricket. His attendance was a mere 10 per cent. On the other hand, Aindritha Ray, a successful Sandalwood actress, had to take a break from studies only because she was "just an actress".

My producer Rakesh decided to speak to Manish Pandey himself on the subject. And, we also asked our listeners to air their opinions fataafat. Although we had mixed responses from our listeners, the majority seemed to favour cricket and cricketers.u00a0

Prithvi: Do you think it is fair for cricketers to be treated differently from folks following other professions?
Caller: Yes. A cricketer represents our country while actresses don't.

Prithvi: Well, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan represent our country too. They are global personalities...
Caller: A cricketer brings glory to our country.

Prithvi: Aishwary Rai has done that too...
Caller:u00a0 No! Cricket is bigger than acting.

Prithvi: But both professions demand talent and skill.
Caller: ...emm...eh...

I quickly punctured the silence by awarding him the RadioOne goodie bag for sharing his thoughts with us. After all, Speak Up Fataafat is all about sharing opinions, as every one has one. So did Manish Pandey! When Rakesh spoke to him on air, he rightly and smartly expressed his support to actors and models.
