A 30-year-old man was arrested, in connection with a case, for allegedly cutting off the udders of three cows in Bengaluru's Vinayaka Nagar, police said, adding that he will be in judicial custody till January 24, ANI reported. As per ANI, the accused has been identified as Syed Nasru (30), a resident of Champaran district of Bihar. According to the police investigation, the accused had committed this act under the influence of alcohol. The police have filed a case under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, 1960 and section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Nasru works as a helper in a plastic and cloth bag stitching shop, which is 50 metres away from the place of the incident. No other person is found to be involved in the incident, ANI reported. The cows are presently out of danger after treatment. This comes after Bengaluru police filed a case after an unidentified person allegedly severed the udders of three cows in the Vinayaka Nagar area, officials said on Sunday. As per the police, an FIR has been filed at the Cottonpet police station under Section 325 of the BNS in connection with the incident. The cow owner, Karna, said, "I am deeply upset. The cows were tied near our house at night, and we found out about this cruel act in the morning. We don't know who did this, but we have lodged a complaint with the police. I want justice," ANI cited. The injured cows were taken to the Chamarajpet veterinary hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, BJP leaders and members of different groups and organisations paid a visit to the hospital and strongly condemned the incident, ANI reported. BJP leader and MLC Ravi Kumar said that the cows have lost a lot of blood and requested the government to take strict action. "I urge the government to identify the miscreants and arrest them. I also request the government to provide a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the owner," he said. Former Karnataka CM and MP Basavaraj Bommai has criticised the alleged severing of the udders of cows in Bengaluru's Vinayaka Nagar, calling it an inhumane act and accused the state government of its failure to protect animals, ANI cited. "A lot of attention has been paid to the infrastructure of the railway stations. We have built new stations. We will run around 13,000 trains including the special and regular trains. This time 10,000 regular and 3,000 special trains will run.." Kumar told ANI. He further said that around 1,146 CCTV have been installed at all the stations. "We have installed around 1,1476 CCTV at the stations. We are very satisfied with the improvements in the infrastructure. We will be making announcements in around 12 languages at the stations. There have been arrangements made for the elderly people as well.." he further said. Earlier, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Railways had invested Rs 5,000 crore over the last three years to enhance the infrastructure for the festival, including new platforms, doubled railway lines, and improved facilities to accommodate the influx of pilgrims. According to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the accident took place near Dahalchauri where the bus went out of control and fell into a 100 meters deep gorge. The bus, with 22 passengers on board, was en route to Dahalchauri from Pauri, they said, adding that four people died on the spot while another succumbed later. Eight of the injured have been referred to a higher health center in Srinagar in critical condition. Pauri DM Ashish Chauhan has directed the officials of the Transport Department to investigate the causes of the accident. All the rescued workers have been admitted to a hospital for treatment. No fatalities have been reported. The shuttering of the under-construction building on the station premises had collapsed Saturday afternoon, trapping the workers. The rescue teams, including personnel from the national and state disaster response force and the railways, worked through the cold night to clear the debris and safely pull out the trapped workers. The North Eastern Railway (NER) officials have announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 for those with minor injuries and up to R2.5 lakh for those with serious injuries. North Eastern Railways orders probe The North Eastern Railway has ordered a high-level investigation and formed a four-member probe committee to investigate the causes of the lentil collapse incident, said Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NER, Pankaj Kumar Singh. The committee includes the Chief Engineer, Chief Administrative Officer/ RSP, Chief Safety Officer and Principal Chief Safety Commissioner. The collapse of an under-construction structure at Kannauj Railway Station has left six people seriously injured but they are out of danger, said a top police official on Saturday. He said that there should be a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or judicial inquiry into these deaths. The Dalit leader also demanded compensation of Rs 1 crore each for the kin of both men and government jobs to one member of each family, according to the PTI. The murder of Santosh Deshmukh, sarpanch of Massajog village in Beed, and the death of Somnath Suryavanshi, who was arrested in connection with the violence in Parbhani following damage to a glass-encased replica of the Constitution, have triggered huge uproar in the state. Anandraj Ambedkar claimed similar murders had been committed in Beed district in the past but were overlooked. "Such crimes are unlikely to happen without the involvement of influential individuals acting as godfathers," he said. The Republican Sena chief said CM Fadnavis, who holds the home portfolio, should appoint a separate home minister to maintain law and order in the state. He also demanded sedition charges against those behind the vandalism in Parbhani, as per the PTI. Furthermore, Anandraj Ambedkar announced that in the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the Republican Sena would ally with parties having a similar ideology, excluding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the news agency reported. Ambedkar criticised the widespread support for 'Manuvaad' by certain sections of Other Backward Classes (OBC). "The day they awaken, Manuvaad will collapse in the country. Technological advancements have brought the world closer, making it impossible to mislead the marginalized communities for long," Anandraj Ambedkar said, the PTI reported.
