Indian Tourism Development Corporation to temporarily hire 700 students for the Games
Earn while you learn hospitality for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. This is the latest buzz in Delhi colleges. As the government seeks volunteers to serve thousands of visitors coming from all over the world to India, state-run hospitality group Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) is planning to recruit 700 students during the Games, to be held between October 3 and 14 next year.

This is a golden chance for the students to not only learn but earn too. Apart from the stipend for the task, ITDC is also planning to provide accommodation facility to all the selected students at the DDA flats in Vasant Kunj.
"We will be mainly looking at the students of Delhi University, Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan and some other renowned hospitality colleges," said an ITDC official.
"India is a country the young minds. We are sure our youth will showcase the strength, prowess and our Indian hospitality to the world in a better way. We have already talked with the heads of various colleges and hospitality institutes and will soon start the campus recruitment," said the official.
Designated as "Hospitality Executives", they will be palced at ITDC operated properties including Hotel Ashok, Hotel Janpath and Hotel Samrat.
However, joining the CWG work force will not be a cakewalk, as the candidates will have to go through on-campus interviews and group discussions before getting an appointment letter.u00a0 "The selection criteria will comprise communication skills, ability to work under pressure, aptitude for interacting with international visitors etc. Campus interviews and group discussion will be held to shortlist the applicants," the official said.
The students will get the opportunity to work under the Indian tourism Development for five months. For this, they will undergo a two-month training in hospitality and guest relations by ITDC officials.
