Having missed his school bus, Alan went to the terrace of the seven-storeyed building to play at 8.30 am.
He fell off the edge and landed in the building compound.
On hearing a loud thud, a few residents rushed to the spot. Sushil Sharoff, secretary, Imperial Court Apartment Owners' Association, took the boy to Fortis Hospital in his car.
"There was a very loud noise. When I saw Alan lying there, I picked him up and took him to the hospital, which is situated barely five minutes from our building," said Sharoff. "Alan died on the way. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital."
Inspector Jagadish from the Cubbon Park Police Station said, "Alan lived with his parents on the fourth floor of the building. We are treating it as a case of accidental death." Alan's mother was not in a state to comment.
