The arrests came a few days after the Madras High Court bench here directed police to submit all mobile call details of ten persons suspected to be involved in the kidnap and murder of K Jammal Mohammed, police said.
Reporters and photographers had a tough time covering the event as they were allegedly threatened by the arrested woman's lawyers.
Police said the three persons had been sent to 15 days judicial custody and taken to the central prison in Tiruchirapalli. They said the woman, Indira, had purchased some property from Jammal Mohammed, but refused give details of the link between her and the kidnap and his murder.
Jamal Mohammed who was reported missing since August 31, was found dead at Kodaikanal early this month. On Sept 15, acting on a petition by Jamal Mohammed's wife, the bench had directed police to secure closed circuit TV footage at the sub -registrar's office at Arasaradi where the group allegedly forced Mohammed to sign three sale deeds and power of attorney deed for a 1.64 acre property, worth Rs 30 crore, at Arapalayam in the heart of the city.
The woman had sought a direction to transfer the case to CBI contending police were allegedly trying to protect the accused. She submitted that her husband cancelled the 'patta' issued to one Ganesan and 13 others who encroached Trust Land by producing valid documents. Ganesan got angry with him and it was against this background he went missing, she submitted.
She had also submitted that though she listed the names of the kidnap suspects police suddenly came up with the news that one Sankar kidnapped Jamal Mohammed and murdered him over a dispute over sharing the brokerage.
She was informed of the recovery of her husband's body, but no family member was permitted during post-mortem. Different versions were being given regarding the murder.
The petitioner said if call details were examined, the real culprits could be nabbed. She sought a direction for producing video footage of the post-mortem and CCTV footage of proceedings at the sub-registrar office when the registration was done on September 1.
