They had gone to take a bath in the river

In a shocking incident in North Delhi, five people were drowned in Yamuna river in Burari area on Sunday evening.

They had gone to take a bath in the river. According to a fire brigade officer, the incident took place at around 6 pm. The deceased have been identified as Govind (16), Sanjay Sharma (18), Sambhu Yadav (22), Baanke (21) and Gurmeet (20). They were all residents of Swaroop Nagar and nearby areas.

"They were rushed to the nearby government hospital where they were declared dead," said a fire brigade officer. Meanwhile, a Delhi police officer said that the police were taking statements of the deceased's families. A post mortem will be conducted today.
