Women and Child Welfare Minister Kiran Walia has written a letter in this regard to the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Justice Babulal Chandulal seeking permission for the pilot project.

"We have appointed 17 women as protection officials who will deal with the cases after the victim approaches them. They will assist the victim in all the ways possible not only in rape and molestation cases but also in cases related to domestic violence," said Walia.

The minister said that her department has launched a campaign in association with United Nations Development Fund for Women and leading NGO Jagori to make the city safe for women.

The Government has also formed eighty women panchayats across the capital to look after women related issues.
