The FIR, lodged by hospital MD Vijay Patil, states that Dr Haresh Bajaj and Dr Gaurav Varma used the stents purchased from specific companies at higher prices during 2011-12 to 2013-14. This was discovered during a special audit conducted for the period, the FIR said.
It states that the two were working in the hospital as cardiologists since 2007 and 2009 respectively, and were suspended for the alleged offence on November 7, 2014.
A PIL had also been filed in the Bombay High Court against the duo for the alleged malpractices.
The petition was disposed of by the HC in January this year after the Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan informed it that a probe has been ordered and if doctors were found guilty, civil and criminal action would be taken against them.
Accordingly, during the probe the doctors were allegedly found to have committed misconduct, misappropriation and medical negligence, the FIR said.
