Busted: Cops got wind of the plan and swooped down on five of
Narayan's associate travelling in a vehicle and arrested them

Notorious rowdy J C B Narayan had been arrested under the Goonda Act earlier and was in jail for a year. He continued his extortion operation along with his associates after being released, and targeted businessmen and moneyed people at Bommanahalli.

Dish Seena, was running his own operations in Bommanahalli and seeing Narayan as a threat, told him not to encroach on his turf. Narayan enraged at the warning, decided to kill Seena. On Tuesday evening Narayan and his associates were on the way to kill Seena, but the police got wind of the plan and swooped down on five of Narayan's associate travelling in a vehicle and arrested them. Narayan however, managed to escape as he was in another vehicle.

Simultaneously, the CCB arrested notorious rowdy, Channabasavayya, a member of the Hebbett Manja gang, who was absconding since 2003. He was involved in 16 major crimes in the city alone, including illegal weapons supply, money doubling, fake notes and extortion.

He began his career by supplying fake notes and police claim that in 2002, he circulated almost one crore in the market and has cheated people of money amounting to Rs 5 crore. Besides fraud, he has killed persons for demanding their money back. He was arrested by the police in 2002 and released on bail. After being released, he continued extorting money and was involved in supplying weapons to rowdies in the city.

Channabasavayya and his associate, Naveen Kumar have been named 'most wanted criminals' in the city and the police were on the look out for them for the past seven years. Kumar has five murder cases and eight robbery cases to his credit.

CCB Police Inspector Balegouda confirmed this saying, "We caught them on when both gangs were on the way to commit crimes. We are currently investigating cases against Channabasavayya. J C B Narayan succeeded in escaping, but we'll catch him soon."
