Could be a bomb, as a Jamia Nagar builder discovered
Mohammad Uzair was expecting a gift. What he received instead was a token of depreciation, and a rather explosive one at that. The builder suffered injuries on his hand, chest and face when a low-intensity bomb hidden inside a parcel delivered to him exploded. The incident took place on Monday at the Shaheen Bagh area of Jamia Nagar.

Police suspect that the bomb was specifically designed to inflict injuries to a single person. It seems the purpose of the parcel bomb was to send a warning to Mohammad Uzair (45) in order to extort money from him.
Police sources said that the bomb was made of circuit wires, gun powder and a battery which might have set it off. "The bomb contained sharp nails and broken pieces of metal along with wires which were used to trigger the blast," said a police officer. However, investigators have categorically ruled out any possibility of a terror angle.
The bomb was apparently delivered to Riyaz, an associate of Mohammad Uzair, by a man wearing a cap. Riyaz was told that it was a gift for Uzair from his brother in Saudi Arabia. However, police officials suspect that the package was not sent through a courier agency as the deliverer did not ask for a receipt.

"As soon as he opened the parcel, it exploded and Uzair suffered injuries on his hands and eyes. He was rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre where he is undergoing treatment and his condition is said to be stable," a police official said. The parcel bomb was kept in a cardboard box and was wrapped in a polythene bag.u00a0
