Khattar was expected to meet the family on Wednesday, but called off the visit in the wake of protests staged by angry locals who blocked the Delhi-Agra highway.

“We want the investigation to be done properly. But with great regret I have to say that some parties are trying to politicise this incident... It should not be given a political or casteist colour,” he said.

Khattar added that the family’s demand for a CBI probe has been met with and if there is any laxity on part of the police, then even they will not be spared. “So far, what has emerged from the investigation is that the matter is not a caste-related dispute but rather a fallout of a long standing family feud,” he said.

“A SIT was formed to probe them. Later, the case was handed over to CBI as per the demand made by the relatives of the victim.”
