She is nothing like a woman in music. She is fearless to the point of being bizarre. She doesn't seduce the lens; her anti-feminine dance moves border on the asinine. Her lyrics don't weep at the loss of a lover, and she wears the most incredulous headgears. Still, in an online poll conducted by Time magazine, viewers voted Lady Gaga as the No. 1 most influential person of 2010. She had skyrocketed from No. 54 to No. 1, and is followed by US first lady Michelle Obama at 14, singer Beyonce at 19, fashion designer Marc Jacobs at 99 and Vogue editor Anna Wintour at 122. Lady Gaga's iconic status gets an instant lift by the fact that she's only 24. The American recording artist who some hail as the new Madonna (Lady Gaga's inspiration) made her smashing debut with Poker Face, her single from an album called The Fame that she released in 2008, making bisexuality and robotic moves creepy and stylish at once.u00a0

Panty hose and nipple tapes:
Lady Gaga believes in the divine powers of cinema; Quentin Tarantino and his passion for bloody gore and nonchalant deception, in particular. The 9.5 minute long Telephone video starts off from where the paparazzi left: Gaga is arrested for poisoning her boyfriend. You hardly see remorse, as Gaga strolls in wearing batwing glares and an exaggerated-shouldered black and white striped dress. "Say goodbye to fashion," screeches a cell mate -- a statement that establishes her complex relationship with fashion heralded by the late British designer Alexander McQueen. He had called Gaga "an unofficial muse".

"Told you she didn't have a d**k," says a transvestite prison guard after stripping her down to just a panty hose and X-shaped nipple tapes. But Lady Gaga isn't wearing underwear and her blurred crotch further fuels speculations whether she in fact has a d**k, say blogs that have prided themselves in discussing Gaga's intersexual status.

She wears burning ciggie sunglasses:
Robed in a black, off-shoulder catsuit embellished with a chunky prison chain and keys body armour, white boots and sunglasses lined with burning cigarettes, Gaga settles down to lock lips with a James Dean-looking dyke in the prison's Exercise Yard... until she gets a telephone call.u00a0

Diet Cola cans act as rollers:
Gaga brings her vocals and dance moves to the fore after 3 elaborate minutes of self-appreciation. The cells are cramped with inmates dressed in slutty, black outfits, each refuting sexy with unconventional hemlines.

"Beyonce on the line for Gaga," someone announces on a loud speaker, while Ms Gaga grabs the scene wearing studded lingerie, jacket over torn fishnet stockings, her blonde locks rolled up in Diet cola cans. She loses the jacket with escalating tempo, looking very much the Madonna we have worshipped. Gaga flaps her heels as she leaves the prison, while a you see a tribute to Michael Jackson.

Sinister Beyonce:
Forget the voluptuous Beyonce from Single Ladies. Sinister is what you'll have to settle for; dark lipstick
to match her attire and state-of-mind, while she sings, "You've been a bad girl. A very, very bad girl, Gaga," as she accelerates her Pussy Wagon to an American diner. If Gaga is evil in intention and attire, Beyonce's Honey Bun character epitomises refined repressed emotions. Otherwise, catch Beyonce spouting, "Trust is like a broken mirror. You can fix it. But you can see the crack in motherf**ker's reflection!" The banana yellow body-flattering dress with matching eye shadow and the American flag painted on her nails -- Beyonce is edgy within permissible limits. An ominous pout plastered on her face as she displays her moves around dead people who the devious Gaga has poisoned in the diner, is as irresistible as her athletic legs.

Gaga's headgears:
Think anything outlandish, and you'll find it on Gaga's head. Diet Coke cans, telephone-inspired Origami headpieces with two dials and a tuft of hair curled to take the shape of a receiver incorporated in a chef's hat, the American flag bandana or a cop hat covered in leopard print -- each headpiece takes the video plot ahead.

Last word:
If you didn't mind Beyonce's fiercely sexy attire in Single Ladies, don't be alarmed with the angry, crazy side that lurks beneath her just-too-perfect fa ade. Fashion has outstayed its pretty phase. Lady Gaga's eccentric style is a personal choice -- aren't we bored of frocks and fringe anyway?

Brands that financed telephone
A million dollar budget for a music video, which comes with a promise of "To be continued", needs to be financed by product placements. Diet Coke, Wonder Bread, Chanel, Virgin Mobile, Hewlett Packard and Polaroid make annoyingly frequent appearances, while Plenty Of Fish.com, an online dating service, reported a 15% traffic increase since the video's debut.

Video too raunchy for India?
Amid reports of MTV banning Gaga and Beyonce's latest video, which were later denied by the channel, Telephone will premiere on VH1 today. We are not sure about the fate of the video and how much of its raunchy content will be edited. But you can always depend on YouTube to see it in original. Make sure you are over 18 though. Yes, YouTube is checking.u00a0

Rhea Kapoor's tweet about telephone
Lady Gaga's video telephone is bizarre and not in a good way. That is not fashion. Sick. Love the song though!
