Parents complain to the chief minister claiming the boy has gone into depression
This incident is a complete antithesis of the prevailing Diwali spirit. Ten-year-old Aryan Gupta had no idea that finding a burst firecracker inside his school premises will have such strong repercussions.

The class IV student of Bal Bharti School in Dwarka sector 12, has been suspended for six days by the school authority after his class teacher found him playing with the firecrackers. The boy is now reportedly in depression and has fallen ill after the incident. The parents have complained against the school to CM Sheila Dikshit and Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely.
Start to finish
According to his parents, Aryan left for school from his Palam residence on October 17 in a more-than-usual merry mood as he was supposed to go on a picnic with the other students. After the first period he asked permission from his class teacher Shaveta Manchanda to go to the restroom. He went to the toilet where he found a used firecracker. He showed it to his friends. Meanwhile, the class teacher noticed this. She thought that he had brought it from home and complained to school principal Suruchi Gandhi.
After a discussion the principal decided to suspend Aryan for the next six days. Aryan was also not allowed to go on the picnic. The school authorities have demanded a written reply from his father Tara Chand Gupta, who has complained against the school.u00a0
"My son did not take any firecrackers in school. It was a used firecracker that was found on him. This is a failure on part of the school, my son has nothing to do with the incident," said Tara Chand Gupta.u00a0
The other side
This reporter contacted the school principal but she was not willing to comment. Several other officials of the school, who did not reveal their names, also refused to react.
"Why should we reply to your questions," said one of them.
