"The festival has always been showcasing the legendary singers and musicians along with the young and upcoming musicians, who have proven their merit and mettle at different smaller concerts and have shown their potential", he said while inaugurating the Thumri festival.
"It has been done in the belief that today's young artists will be maestros tomorrow," Jung said.
The festival has been organized by Department of Art, Culture and Languages and Sahitya Kala Parishad.
Secretary (Art, Culture & Languages) SS Yadav said, "over the last few years we have seen a good number of young artists sending in their bio-data to be included in this festival to perform Thumri.
This change in the attitudes of younger generation gives hope that the unusual traditions of Indian culture and arts will survive," Yadav said.
Being an important event it has been included in the calendar of events to be held under 'Delhi Celebrates' organised by Government of NCT of Delhi.
