New Delhi: A prominent restaurant in Connaught Place allegedly denied entry to unprivileged children accompanied by a woman, prompting Delhi government to order an inquiry yesterday.

In his tweet, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia termed the incident as an example of typical ‘colonial mindset’ and said that if the allegations against the restaurant are found true its licence will be cancelled.

Sonali Shetty, a writer who had taken the children for lunch to celebrate her husband’s birthday, said, "I took 8 underprivileged children to Shiv Sagar for lunch, but the staff there refused to serve us.

I was also ridiculed and threatened by the staffers."
