Thus, the court remanded Pawar and Shinde to CBI custody till February 6.
Pawar and Shinde were arrested by the CBI on charges of allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1.23 lakh from a Pimpri-based civil contractor.
The case so far
DCB had awarded a contract of Rs 55 lakh to Ramesh Chugh, a contractor, for laying water pipelines at Dehu Road in 2008-2009. Chugh who had completed the first phase of work had submitted a bill of Rs 20.56 lakh to Pawar.
He, then, sought a clearance of Rs 4.92 lakh for remaining work when Pawar allegedly demanded Rs 1.25 lakh from him.
Hence, Chugh filed a complaint with the anti-corruption bureau of CBI, which laid a trap and arrested Pawar and Shinde as they accepted the bribeu00a0 amount.
