27-year-old was living at a rented flat in south Delhi
The decomposed body of a young girl was found in a rented apartment in the Safdarjung area of south Delhi late Sunday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Tanya, 27, a resident of West Bengal. Her body was found at her flat in Humayunpur area after her landlord came across a foul smell from her room.
"When repeated knocks at the door went unanswered, I called the police. The cops broke open the door and found that Tanya was lying dead on the bed. She must have died some days ago, as the body has started decomposing," Tanya's landlord Harish Kumar told MiD DAY.
u00a0"It seems like she died 2 or three days ago as there was unbearable smell in the area and the body had started decaying. The postmortem report will confirm the cause of death", said a police officer.
The police have informed the family members of the deceased. Tanya was working with a private firm in south Delhi. The police are also questioning her colleagues and friends to find out if any foul play was involved in her death.
