Victim claims a renowned construction company refused to pay him after buying equipment worth Rs 2 crore

After a renowned construction company allegedly refused to pay a 34-year-old businessman his due of Rs 2 crore, the man tried to commit suicide by setting himself on fire in Mandir Marg area of New Delhi on Sunday.
The businessman, identified as Prabhat Singh, a resident of Palam area of south-west Delhi, deals in electric equipment.
Prabhat told the police that a construction company, which is dealing with a market in New Delhi, bought electric equipment to the tune of Rs 2 crore from him, but refused to pay him for the same.u00a0

"Prabhat said he had taken a huge loan from a bank and private financiers to buy the equipment that he supplied to the company.
He said he was neck deep in debt but the company paid no heed to his troubles," said a senior police official. Prabhat then decided to take the extreme step.
"But a passer called the police in time and asked them to come without blowing their siren," he added.
