Cops arrive at crime spot in 2 min to arrest housebreakers

A Sahakarnagar police team broke all past records set by the police when it comes to response time. The team reached the crime spot in just two minutes after receiving a call from an alert citizen and caught red-handed four people, including a security guard, who were breaking into a flat.

The incident happened at the Ayodhya Society.u00a0 A man named Lalit Singhavi called the police control room and the team from the police station concerned responded immediately quickly and arrested the four attempting to break into locked flats in the Bibvewadi society. One of the four was a watchman employed by the society.

Singhavi came to know about the attempted break-ins after he got a call from a panicked Rajesh Ekbote, whose flat was broken into.

"I immediately called my cousin, who came with his son Lokesh after Ekbote's neighbour came to know what was happening at Ekbote's flat," Singhavi said. As we approached the fifth floor, security guard Tekbahadur Joshi claimed that the thieves had beaten up some one downstairs and he had come up to look for them. As I knew from Ekbote's neighbours that he too was trying to break into the flat, I knew he was purposely giving wrong information, and I immediately called 100. That was at 4.04 am. By 4.06 am, the Sahakarnagar police team came there."

The police arrested Tekbahadur (33), who is from Nepal, his cousin Rambahadur Thapa, Kisan Joshi (40) of Malvadi in Hadapsar, and Siddhram Joshi (22) of Bhaikrainagar in Hadapsar.

Tekbahadur had been working as a watchman at the society for eight years.

"Two accomplices of the arrested men managed to flee," said API Shashikant Khot. "Prima facie it was revealed that it was the watchman who called others to the society to do the job."
