Kamal Kishore Bhagat married Niru Shanti, a nurse at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science in Ranchi, at a ceremony in Lohardagga district.
The wedding was solemnised according to tribal rituals.
Bhagat, a legislator of the All Jharkhand Students' Union (AJSU), was convicted by a Ranchi court on June 23 in a case related to extortion and an attempt to murder a doctor. He was out on bail.
After he was convicted, he lost membership of the state assembly.
The Jharkhand High Court last month rejected his appeal and directed him to surrender. Bhagat recently announced he would surrender on October 7.
The AJSU is an alliance partner of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Jharkhand.
