Congress MP from Thiruvananathapuram Shashi Tharoor's house at Lodhi Estate, New Delhi was burgled in the early hours of 29 November.

Several valuable items like idols, including an antique Nataraja idol, and a 'copper Gandhi glass', gifted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi were stolen, according to a report in The Indian Express.

The police has filed a case under IPC section 380/457 for burglary at the Tughlak Road police station following a complaint by Tharoor.

According to Tharoor's complaint, the thieves climbed the wall of his official residence and entered his personal office after breaking the front door. "The thieves took an antique Nataraja idol, 12 small Ganesha idols, and 10 small Hanuman idols. Several items were also lifted from inside Tharoor’s temple. Twelve 32 GB pen drives and an internet dongle were also stolen. According to the complaint, Tharoor was given the Gandhi glasses by the PM for his involvement in the Swachh Bharat campaign,” the officer told The Indian Express.

A forensic team was called to lift footprints and fingerprints and the burglary is suspected to be the work of vagabonds in the area.

The New Delhi Police are investigating the case.
