According to the Election Commission’s rules, no political party must have its presence within a 100-metre radius around a polling booth, to prevent workers from influencing the voters.
“When I saw Nimhan’s table inside the premises, I immediately informed policemen so they could take action, as it was a violation of election norms,” Mahajan said. He alleged that despite informing the police, Nimhan’s workers were allowed to keep the table there for at least four hours in the morning, yesterday.

Mahajan then approached the election officer on duty to lodge a complaint, but according to him, the officer didn’t bother to visit the spot and check it either.
Eventually, Nimhan’s workers shifted the table outside the restricted area. Despite repeated attempts to contact Nimhan, he did not respond for a comment.
