Class 9 student commits suicide after getting caught in exam

The incident took place on Thursday after the boy, Akshay Sanjaykumar Pal (14), returned home after giving his exam.


According to police he was caught copying during the exam.


The 14-year-old boy was studying at a school in Kurar Village in Malad.


The boy residing in Shivaji Nagar in Malad east went for his examination at 12 pm. According to sources, he took a chit in his school identity card and was caught by his teacher in the examination hall.

He was beaten up by a teacher and the school principal. His parents were then called to meet the principal for getting caught while cheating in the examination.

According to police, "The boy lived in the slum, in a one room kitchen that had a mezzanine floor. After he returned home with his mother, he went up at 4 pm on the mezzanine floor and when his mother went to have a check on him at 8 pm, she found him hanging."

A case of accidental death was registered by Kurar police station at Malad.
