Dasara Vihara package prompts the Tourism Department to introduce chartered flights to Mysore twice a week

Thrilled with the success of the Dasara Vihara tour packages to Mysore, the Karnataka tourism department is now planning to turn this into a twice-a-week affair with chartered flights to Mysore.

Dasara Vihara is a special two-day package for tourists to witness the Vijaya Dashami celebrations in Mysore.

All tickets for the first day, 34 for the second, 53 for the third and 45 for the last day were sold out. The plane's capacity is 60.

There were other offers: A couple pays Rs 9,900 while a family of three pays 13,900 and family of four Rs 17,900.

A one-way ticket costs Rs 1,500 per person.

C Balu, assistant manager of Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation, said, "The reaction of tourists was wonderful. The management is also discussing the possibility of flying to other historic places."

These could include Hampi during the festive season and Kittur Utsav.
