Chain snatcher claims innocence

Three motorcycle-borne chain snatchers allegedly attacked a group of men and snatched a chain, before one was caught and beaten up outside MS Ramaiah Hospital and then handed over to the police. Mahesh Gowda (28) claims that he and his friends left a local bar at about 10.30 pm when the attackers snatched his chain and escaped on foot leaving their motorcycle behind after it skidded.

"One man came back for the bike, but we caught him and handed him over to the police," he said. The police said that Swami Ravi, accused of snatching Gowda's chain countered the claims saying, that he was alone on the bike and was the one who was actually attacked. Ravi said, "I didn't snatch anybody's chain. They were drunk and beat me up. He (Gowda) told me to give him my chain if I wanted my bike back." Meanwhile, a complaint has been registered at Sanjay Nagar police station. The police is questioning both the parties and refused to comment.
