Three-day exhibition of security gadgets in Pune will help people and the police pre-empt terrorists

In a bid to involve citizens in counter-terrorism activities following the terror attacks in Mumbai, the state Central Investigation Department (CID) yesterday finalised plans to hold a three-day exhibition of security gadgets in the city.
Starting March 7, the expo is being jointly convened by the NASSCOM, Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) and CID.
Additional Director General (CID) S P S Yadav said international participation is expected. The expo will also include self-activating surveillance cameras to pre-empt terror strikes. "The gadgets will help people, industries, institutions and the police to pre-empt crime," he said.

Workshops too
Yadav said the expo will be accompanied by workshops for the public by defence experts and the security personnel. The workshops will be aimed at explaining the features of various gadgets that will be on display.

Sudam Choure, who was also part of the panel that finalised the expo details, said there will be firewalls on display to help people understand cyber and IT-related crime.
The gadgets on display will also include those meant for border surveillance. The expo will be inaugurated by State Home Minister Jayant Patil.
