This literature festival, meant exclusively for children, is trying to get young minds tune into the magical world of books
How many kids around you ditch the TV and computer games to actually go through some printed words? Authors, parents and all concerned crib that kids nowadays are just not interested in books. But is enough effort on to even get them interested and initiated into the mesmerising world of books? 
The Bookaroo Children's Literature Festival was launched with a similar idea in mind. Now into its third year, the lit fest has seeped into schools across the city and is bringing together children, authors and books for some interesting and magical concoctions.
"We never had the concept of a children's literature festival. We thought we would get children, books and authors on one platform and let them discover whatever they have to discover. And give them a choice. If they are excited, nothing like it," says M. Venkatesh, trustee, Bookaroo Trust.

Acommon platform
The best part about the festival this year, feel the organisers, is the fact that it is being held bang at the city centre, so that more and more kids including the ones who do not come from privileged backgrounds can drop in for their share of fun and
learning. "We wanted to
provide free and equal access to children from all walks of life. The idea is to provide them with a common
platform," says Sharupa Dutta, producer, Teamworks Films Pvt Ltd which is
associated with the festival.
Getting them interested
While various workshops are on in schools across the city, the weekend will see kids from across the city converge at a common venue to attend workshops, story-telling sessions, learn how to make books, interact with their favourite authors, buy and browse books and even get them signed by the authors.
The authors include the likes of Anthony Horowitz who has written several books for children, Anshuman Mohan, who published his first book while still studying at St Xavier's Collegiate School, Kolkata, Anushka Ravishankar, Hema Pande, Lian Tanner, Monideepa Sahu, Roopa Pai , Ruskin Bond and Samit Basu among others. So let your children be a part of it.
