During a press conference in Pune yesterday, senior party leaders Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Shahnawaz Hussain said that the serial blasts at Patna could have been averted if Nitish Kumar's administration had given the custody of Yasin Bhatkal to police from other states
Lashing out at the Bihar government for security lapses, national general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that the recent bomb blasts in Patna could have been forestalled if the police there have given the custody of Indian Mujahideen founder Yasin Bhatkal to the police of other states. Rudy along with BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain yesterday (Tuesday) conducted a joint press conference in the city.

“Not only Pune police, but cops of Kolkata, Madhya Pradesh, Hyderabad and even Delhi were demanding the custody of Bhatkal, who was arrested from India-Nepal border in Bihar’s Raxaul town. However, Bihar police completely ignored this demand and, without interrogating him, kept him in its own custody,” Rudy claimed.
Bhatkal is on India’s list of 12 most-wanted terror suspects. He was allegedly involved in Pune’s German Bakery blast and attacks in Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Mumbai.u00a0Angry over the Bihar chief minister’s recent remark that the blasts at Narendra Modi’s rally had benefited the BJP, Hussain also took a pot shot at Nitish Kumar and said that he had became narrow minded and short sighted.
“Nitish Kumar is not just a CM, but also the head of Bihar police, as he is holding additional charge of state’s home ministry. However, it seems that he has forgotten his duties, where he should ensure that proper security is arranged at the places where masses gather on a large scale,” Hussain said.
Hussain also criticised union law minister Kapil Sibal on his recent remark, where the latter had challenged Narendra Modi to a debate. Without naming Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Hussain said, “The Congress party’s top leaders can’t debate with Modi, and that’s the reason why they send their ‘lawyers’.
However, BJP’s other team members are capable enough to deal with such ‘lawyers’ of the Congress party.”u00a0The duo also said that they are confident about the party’s victory Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and where the elections are about to take place. u00a0
