At the week-old Crepeteria at the circle of consumerist paradise Lokhandwala, you place your order at the counter. Then you can watch the cooks ladle and swirl the batter on a flat round griddle. The crepe is flipped, filled and folded in minutes.

The thin, crisp crepes, available in regular or whole wheat and eggless options are a nice complement to savoury fillings as well as sweet. The substantial lunch and dinner crepes include an Egg and Mayo crepe (with lettuce and onions), Chicken Tikka, Paneer Tikka, Salad Crepe (with an original Italian olive oil dressing), and the region-specific Crepe Arabia (falafel in hummus, olives topped with pickled gherkins), Crepe New York (smoked chicken in barbeque sauce with onion and capsicum) and the "recommended" of Crepe Italia (Rs 89). We loved the filling of tomato and cheese in pesto mayo, topped with olives and jalapenos, was an appetite-whetter.

Hazelnut spread Nutella is featured in many of the dessert crepes, paired with banana and chocolate sauce in Nutella Banana (Rs 99), with whipped cream in Nutella Thrill (Rs 99). We picked the less ubiquitous Classic (Rs 79) for our dessert crepe; it had a simple and effective combination of honey, butter and cinnamon.

But before dessert, came Crepeteria's non-crepe offerings: Subway-style sandwiches, "bugerz", salads, quick bites and shakes. There's all-day breakfast too --a choice of omelette; grilled tomatoes, hash brown, sausage, baked beans, toast and tea / coffee are included at no charge. The Smoked Chicken sub (Rs 129) was substantially stuffed with all the right ingredients but dry to the bite.

We were expecting whole chillies in the deep-friend Jalapeno Poppers (Rs 159), which had chopped jalapenos and a tasty cheese sauce. The Hazelnut Cappuccino (Rs 99) and Roasted Hazelnut milkshake (Rs 99) blew our minds away with their authentic aroma and taste. But what took the cake, literally, was the Blueberry Cheesecake. Unlike the cream cheese mousse topped with blueberry jam available at other restaurants in the city, it was baked and stuffed with real bluberries, like the real thing should be.

More approachable than Crepe Station thanks to its reasonable pricing and wide range, Crepeteria could improve --the fluorescent and white interiors have become common in the fast food world, and a staffer called the crepes "crap". Then, it would have the suburbs eating out of its hands.
