Two drunken Delhi youths were beaten by bar waiters over an issue of lighting a cigarette at 11.30 pm yesterday.
The duo, who work for a private firm in the city had come to Brigade Fuel Bar and restaurant on Brigade Road, for dinner and drinks.
After they were done, they paid the bill and exited the bar.
But, then they entered the bar again, and asked the waiter to light a cigarette. The waiter told them that they could not do so, since his duty hours were over.

They allegedly said, "Now that we have paid the bill, you don't care anymore? Light the cigarette, or the situation will get serious."
This irked the servers, and they told the two to leave. Instead, they climbed up the stairs, and tried to assault one of the waiters.
This really was the last straw for the bar staff, and they retaliated. After a sound thrashing, the duo was shown the door, and they left without a word.
In his defence, Raj Shekhar, the manager of the bar, said, "They used filthy language and attacked our staff.
We had to do something."
When this reporter contacted the two, they refused to give their names and address. "We were beaten up because we are North Indians.
If this had happened in our city, we would have shown," they said. Neither party has filed a police complaint.
