Bangalore: Suicide city?

Bangalore: Suicide city?

The suicide of 28-year old software engineer Vishal Yadav should make us worry about the mental state of techies in the city.

One techie actually shot a video clip of himself before committing suicide in April this year.

According to this site, over one million people die by suicide worldwide each year.

In India, according to the NCRB, [PDF] the number of suicides has jumped from 95,829 on 1997 to 1,22,637 in 2007, which represents an increase of 28 per cent.

If you or somebody close to you is suicidal, check out suicide.com. You can also call SAHAI, a city suicide helpline (080 2549 7777).
