Results of the Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Exam (Advanced), declared yesterday, brought a hat-trick of success for city’s Kalpesh Krishna, who has bagged an all-India rank (AIR) of 93 in the competitive test, once again topping the city.

Recently, he scored 98.2% in his CBSE Std XII exams, and two years before that, he had scored the highest in the city in the ICSE Std X exams.
“I was expecting a slightly better score. I would like to join IIT-Bombay, and will do my graduation in electrical engineering,” said Kalpesh, son of a doctor-couple, adding that he has wanted to graduate from IIT for as long as he can remember.
Asked how he felt about his run of success, he bantered, “Yeah, but this is the last time!” He is also among the 30 candidates short-listed from across the country to be trained for the international Astronomy Olympiad.
Another high performer, Tejeshwar Thorawde, with AIR 437 in the IIT-JEE, said, “To get into the IIT is every aspiring engineer’s dream and I am happy that I cracked the JEE successfully.”
Other city students who secured a spot among the first 1,000 rankers are Shubham Katiyar (468), Pushkaraj Dhake (474), Kanishk Gandhi (531), Sahil Bhatnagar (591), Akshunkumar Yadav (702), Goutham Ramakrishnan (959), Chinmayee Rane (950) and Shrikant Gore (998).
IIT-Kharagpur had coordinated the May 25 test this year.
