Golu was admitted to SOFOSH recently after it was discovered that he was being tortured and brutally beaten up by his father Vijaykumar Gupta and stepmother Manju at their Lohegaon residence over bedwetting.u00a0

MiD DAY had reported the matter on November 14 (‘Monster parents thrash, burn five-year-old for bed-wetting’).

Golu will be handed over to Geeta on Thursday morning after completing necessary procedures. “I am grateful to the activists for making it possible. I have got my child back,” said Geeta.

During police investigations, it was revealed that Golu’s father Vijaykumar and his first wife Geeta had come to Pune three months back from Katara village in Madhya Pradesh. Following this, Vijaykumar started assaulting Geeta and asked her to stay away from him. Taking Golu along, Vijaykumar had taken flight and married Manju. The duo then started torturing the kid.

After arresting Golu’s father and stepmother, police had admitted the boy to SOFOSH.

Meanwhile, the kid’s uncle and aunt had visited him, from whom Geeta’s address was obtained by social activist Deepali Kalapure of SOFOSH.

It was with the help of Kalapure’s husband, who works in Madhya Pradesh, and the local unit of Childline, that she was traced and brought to Pune. u00a0
