Anisha Mishra (5), her father and maternal uncle were heading to a medical store near Krishna temple on Dehu Road on Sunday evening when a four-wheeler hit them from behind and fled away
The celebration of the birth of a baby girl in the Mishra household was short-lived when they received the disturbing news of the loss of two of their family members in an accident on Dehu Road on Sunday evening.
Five-year-old Anisha Mishra was visiting her baby sister at the hospital along with her father and maternal uncle. In need of money to pay the medical bill, the three headed to the ATM on a two-wheeler. They had withdrawn the cash and were heading to a medical store near Krishna temple on Dehu Road, when suddenly an unidentified four-wheeler hit them from behind and sped away.
Anisha and her uncle, Arun Navkar (22), were brought dead to hospital while her father, Anand, has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital.
According to the police, “Anisha’s mother had delivered a baby girl three days ago and needed cash for medical treatment, for which Anisha, along with her maternal uncle Arun and her father Anand, had stepped out of hospital on their two-wheeler to get the money.
They had withdrawn the cash and were heading to a medical store near the Krishna temple on Dehu Road, when suddenly, a four-wheeler ran over them from behind and fled from the spot. We learnt that the incident took place around 8.30 pm, but we came to know about it around 9.15 pm.”
He added, “We are probing the case and will soon zero in on the vehicle with the help of the CCTV cameras set up in the area.”
Anand Mishra’s wife and their relatives are in a state of shock. The bodies have been shifted to the YCM hospital and will soon be handed to their relatives.
