The heinous crime took place on April 23 when the girl, a IV grade student, had gone to a nearby jungle for grazing goats and was on her way back home.
She was stopped by the duo- Mahendra Kol and Amit Kol, who took turns to rape her, police said.
The bleeding victim had somehow managed to reach home late in the evening and narrated the ordeal to her parents following which they immediately took her to Beohari Police Station from where she was taken to a local Community Health Centre and later to Shahdol district hospital for treatment.
When no improvement was noticed in her condition, she was referred to the hospital in Jabalpur on April 24.
Both the accused, aged around 24, were arrested a day after from the village and a case under section 376 D and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, was registered against them, police said.
This is a second instance in a fortnight, where a minor rape victim from the state has been referred to a hospital in Nagpur.
On Monday, the five-year-old girl, who was brutally raped in Ghansaur town in Seoni district of MP on April 17, died at a hospital here after her condition worsened. She was flown in shortly before midnight on April 20.u00a0
