New Delhi: In a bid to curb ragging, AIIMS has decided to set up a 24x7 control room at students hostel to help them report incidents of ragging and deploy anti-ragging squads in the hostel premises during night.
"We have decided to set up a 24x7 Control Room where students can report complaints of ragging by dialling 9868397028.
"It will help the administration take prompt action against the guilty students," said V K Bansal, Professor of Surgery and Sub-dean Academic AIIMS.
According to the Director of AIIMS M C Mishra, strict action will be taken against those found involved in ragging. "Strict action will be taken against those found involved in ragging. Action may include rustication of students from the hostel or cancellation of admission of the students found indulging in ragging," said Mishra.
Also, several anti-ragging squads comprising senior faculty members will be formed to keep a vigil on ragging incidents within hostel premises.
"The phone numbers of the senior faculty memebrs also will be distributed among the new batch of MBBS students who are joining from July 11," said Bansal.
Besides, two PCR vans of Delhi Police will be stationed in the hostel campus so that incidents of ragging can be quickly reported.
"Through all such arrangements, we want to convey the message that AIIMS has zero tolerance towards ragging," he said.
