Police sources say that around 9.30 pm, her father had brought Siddhi back home from her coaching class. She went inside the bedroom on the pretext of changing her clothes and locked the door from inside. Siddhi’s mother, brother and father were waiting in the drawing room for dinner.
When they received no answer, Siddhi’s family broke open the door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan with her dupatta.
mid-day spoke to Siddhi’s father Santosh, who works as a clerk in the Cantonment Board. He said, “Siddhi was good at studies and wanted to opt for Chartered Accountancy (CA) or Company Secretary (CS) course.
She had scored 69 per cent in Std X and had opted for commerce. On Monday around 9.30 pm, I picked her up from her classes and brought her home. She was looking sad, I thought it’s because of her exam pressure so I was trying to cheer her up with jokes.”

Inspector Kamlakar Takwale, in-charge of Khadki police station, said, “Siddhi was a Std XII commerce student studying in Pimpri-based P K Goyal College. After her college, she attended classes for HSC. On Monday, she received her test papers of English in her class in which she had scored six marks out of 25. Therefore, she was nervous and also had a breakdown in the class.”
He added, “We have conducted a post-mortem and we are probing the case. The primary investigation reveals that she was nervous because of scoring less in the English test.” A case has been registered with the Khadki police station.
