Forty-four people, including 15 children, have tested positive for COVID-19 in UP’s Gautam Buddh Nagar, the health department said on Thursday. The number of active cases in the district has crossed the 100-mark to reach 121 now, it said.


According to official figures, 44 people tested positive for the infection since Wednesday 6 am, while 13 have got cured during the period. “Of the new cases, 15 children were found positive. None of these children were reported from any school,” Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma said.



In view of the uptick in COVID-19 cases in the national capital, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) will hold a meeting on April 20 to discuss measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the city, officials said on Thursday.


Delhi on Wednesday reported 299 COVID-19 cases, a jump of 118 per cent in two days. The positivity rate stood at 2.49 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.

The city had recorded 137 cases on Monday, data showed.

“The Delhi Disaster Management Authority’s meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Lt Governor. It will discuss the prevailing COVID situation, including the recent rise in cases,” a senior Delhi government official said. Earlier in the day, CM Arvind Kejriwal said there is no need to panic as hospitalisations are low. His deputy Manish Sisodia said the govt will soon issue guidelines for schools in view of slight rise in cases.

Covaxin’s P-2/3 trials in US on hold

The US Food and Drug Administration has put on hold the phase 2/3 clinical trials of Covaxin, in USA. Ocugen Inc, Bharat Biotech’s partner for US and Canada for Covaxin, attributed it to WHO’s recent remarks on the vaccine.
