New Delhi: Dalbir Kaur, sister of alleged spy Sarabjit Singh who died while in custody in Pakistan, on Saturday urged the government to take urgent steps to ensure the release of Kulbushan Yadav, the Indian national arrested in Pakistan earlier this week on charges of being a RAW agent. “Maybe there is again a bad intent to create another Sarabjit Singh,” Kaur told reporters ahead of a meeting with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Kulbushan Jadhav, who has been arrested by Pakistani agencies claiming he was a RAW spy, was a businessman who owns a small ship, government sources claimed on Saturday. He often carries cargo to and from Iranian ports bordering Pakistan and has nothing to do with India’s external intelligence agency, they added. Accusing the Modi government of “washing its hands off”, senior Congress MP KV Thomas demanded that the Centre provide immediate consular access to him.
