College student has said this in police complaint filed against her boyfriend for cheating her of valuables
A college student has filed a police complaint against her boyfriend for making her part with valuables worth
Rs 50,000, reneging on his promise of marrying her and blackmailing her for more money saying he had lewd pictures of her.
Chitra P, a resident of Koramangala, said she met Raju in her college library two years back where he introduced himself as her junior. They started meeting frequently and their friendship turned into an affair when Raju proposed marriage.
Raju allegedly lured her saying he belongs to a landlord's familyu00a0 while promising to marry her.
"Chitra said Raju asked her for some money as loan for starting up a business venture a few days ago. Raju said he would return the money very soon and Chitra decided to help him by handing over her mother's jewellery when her parents were out of station. She asked him to get money by using the jewellery as security," said an officer from the Koramangala police.
The cheating came to light when Chitra's parents returned home and found the valuables missing. Chitra said she had given the jewellery to a friend on loan and immediately called Raju, who did not answer her calls.
Chitra managed to reach Raju after several attempts but he refused to return the valuables. "He also blackmailed her saying he would go public with lewd photos of her. He asked her to tell her parents she was pregnant and get some more money," added the officer.
The Koramangala police have registered a case of cheating and are on the lookout for Raju.
