Western Railways has come up with a creative way to stop track-crossings by enlisting the help of Yamraj, the god of death. In this unique initiative, Karambir Dahiya, a constable with the Railway Protection Force, dresses up as Yamraj in a flashy black-and-gold costume and appears on busy platforms to draw attention to the dangers of crossing the tracks. Despite repeated awareness campaigns and regular action taken by all authorities concerned, track-crossing and resulting deaths remain a significant challenge faced by the Railways.
