The authorities deployed heavy security outside the MHADA office after Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena party workers gathered in large numbers to hold a protest demonstration.
Former Maharashtra minister Anil Parab, who part of the Uddhav Thackeray camp of Shiv Sena, also visited the spot amid sloganeering by the Sena party workers. The protesting workers raised slogans against the government led by Eknath Shinde's Balasahebanchi Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
An official said that dozens of protesters were detained as a large contingent of policemen stood guard outside the MHADA office. Senior police officials of the Mumbai Police were also present at the spot to where the Sena workers were protesting.
Sources said Parab had been allegedly using an office space on the premises of a housing society at MHADA Colony in Bandra East. The structure was recently demolished by the society
Addressing a press conference, the Anil Parab said that the structure does not belong to him and that he never used it for commercial purposes.
Anil Parab met MHADA officials and addressed the press outside MHADA office. He also showed a letter from the housing authority that says he is not associated with illegal constructions.
