The entire staff of local train motormen is protesting by sitting in the main hall of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) due to severe sanitation issue
The staff is upset over the poor condition of the motorman lobby, which is filled with filth and the smell of dead rats.
The motormen have been complaining about the cleanliness of CSMT offices for a long time, but their concerns have not been addressed.
In response to the lack of action on their complaints, the motormen have taken the drastic step of staging a sit-in protest inside the CSMT main hall.
The unsanitary conditions in the motorman lobby have been causing significant discomfort and affecting the work environment for the staff.
Some of the motormen were spotted carrying out their daily tasks in the CSMT's main hall amid the little crowd of commuters.
One of the motormen had also tied his handkerchief as a mask over his nose--a common practice in the city to deal with stenches.
Meanwhile, a CR spokesperson said that there was a dead rat in some corner and the lobby is now being cleaned appropriately.
