Meteorologists have issued a high alert for a developing cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal, which poses a potential threat to western India, including Maharashtra.
The cyclone is expected to impact the region from May 23 to May 27, with heavy rainfall forecasted for Mumbai around May 28.

The alert highlighted the possibility of heavy rains affecting Maharashtra and Gujarat around May 28, based on meteorological models.
However, India Meteorological Department is yet to issue a formal advisory regarding the cyclone alert.
Speaking to mid-day.com, an IMD official said that as of now there are no indicators that the cyclonic formation in Bay of Bengal will impact Mumbai.
The official added that the agency will issue an alert and take appropriate measures to safeguard the residents if cyclonic formation will affect Mumbai.
