HC relief for Maharashtra CM Shinde in Nagpur land allotment case
In a relief to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the Bombay High Court on Thursday accepted the withdrawal of an order of regularisation issued by him last week in connection with the Nagpur land allotment case and observed it was treating the matter as closed. The matter pertains to allotment of a land parcel in Nagpur by Shinde when he was the urban development minister in the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. The HC was earlier told the land meant for housing slum-dwellers was allotted to private persons. (PTI)

Mumbai reports one measles case, no death; tally now 506, toll nine
Mumbai on Thursday reported a single case of the measles infection, which took the tally here to 506, while the death toll stood unchanged at nine, a civic official said. The city also has five suspected fatalities though the cause is yet to be confirmed, he added. A Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation release said 37 children were admitted in hospitals and 33 were discharged during the day. Of the 335 beds reserves for measles treatment, only 122 were occupied, and only two of the 20 ventilators earmarked for the purpose are occupied, it added. (PTI)

Central Railway earns record Rs 2.32 cr in 2022 from film shoots; CSMT top site for filmmakers
Central Railway earned a record Rs 2.32 crore from film shoots on its premises in 2022, up from Rs 1.17 crore in 2021, with the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus being the preferred location for filmmakers, an official said on Thursday. The amount is the highest ever for film shoots for CR for any calendar year, the feat being achieved by offering various sites and rail coaches as locations, the official added. (PTI)

Maha sees 20 COVID-19 cases, two deaths; active tally 134
Maharashtra on Thursday reported 20 COVID-19 cases and two deaths, which took the tally to 81,36,418 and the toll to 1,48,414, a health official said.
The state had seen 30 cases and zero death a day earlier, he pointed out. Pune led with 12 new cases, followed by six in Mumbai circle, including three in the metropolis, and one each from Akola and Aurangabad circles, he said. The two deaths took place in Mumbai and Pune, the official added. The recovery count increased by 19 and touched 79,87,870, leaving the state with 134 active cases. (PTI)
