Thane Police`s Anti-Human Trafficking Cell has arrested Sabuj Sanowar Shaikh and Bishti Sabuj Sheikh, a couple who illegally crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border and were residing in Kalyan, Thane. The couple has been booked under multiple sections of the Passport Act and Foreigners Act. The police have also filed a case against their landlord, Mustafa Munshi, for renting them a property despite knowing their illegal status. The arrests were made following a raid at their residence.

In the legislative assembly, CM Devendra Fadnavis says, "The state government will investigate the murder of former Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh of Beed through an IG level officer through an SIT. On the other hand, a judicial inquiry will be conducted into the entire case. Those involved in criminal activities in Beed district will be tracked down and action will be taken against them under MCOCA. Superintendent of Police (SP) Beed will be transferred.
