Officials at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) seem to have forgotten about the Bombay High Court directive of no-hawking zones within a 150-metre radius of railway stations. In Borivli, hawkers have been blatantly selling their wares while flouting rules. In fact, they were seen outside Moksh Plaza on Jambli Gully, selling their goods right beside the civic body’s anti-encroachment vehicle that is stationed there to prevent hawkers from encroaching roads. Jambli Gully is a vital connector to the arterial SV Road which runs parallel to Borivli railway station. Read more.

Cyber Criminals held a senior citizen couple from Goregaon hostage in a ‘digital arrest’ for 10 days, siphoning off Rs 1.33 crore, before the woman stumbled upon a newspaper report about a similar scam and approached the police. The cybercriminals isolated the couple from family and neighbours under false allegations of involvement in a Rs 500-crore money laundering and terrorism case. The couple, both retired employees of a leading government bank, lost their entire savings to the fraud. The woman had opted for voluntary retirement (VRS). Read more.

Mumbai News LIVE Updates: TDS fraud case: Court denies bail to IPS officer`s husband
A special court here has denied bail to Purushottam Chavan, husband of an IPS officer, in an alleged Rs 263 crore Income Tax refund fraud case, saying there is prima facie evidence to show his involvement in "layering proceeds of the crime". Chavan was arrested in May this year and is currently in judicial custody. Special judge, A C Daga, hearing cases pertaining to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) denied the bail on Monday.
